So where does The Sales Locksmith name come from?
After failing at two solo ventures and not being willing to go back to my old career, I concluded my sales skills were my downfall and my friendly nature and smarts weren’t ever going to be enough. I needed a system, and I found it. Logical, systematic, and human behavior-focused, but I also failed at implementing that. As I attended multiple training conferences, I would sit up front, determined to absorb every shared insight. During open Q & A, my arm always shot up to deepen my understanding. One day, the founder, David, looked at me and said, “Not today, Tom. Let’s talk later.” I was crushed. It was time to face the fact that I would never succeed at selling.
In our private meeting, David made it clear that he believed I had the ability to succeed, but in his words, “I have given you the combination to the vault, but it’s clear something is blocking your vision. Go find what that is, and you will unlock your success”. I swallowed my pride and sought answers outside of my usual learning resources, diving deeper into psychology and human behavior. That meant experimenting, failing, being creative, and never giving up. All that intense work helped me crack the safe that had held my keys to success. I finally succeeded at sales and began sharing my insights and systems so other entrepreneurs could discover their solutions and not give up. Now, I help people find their unique combination to unlock sales success and live the dreams they imagined.
I’m curious: Have you ever had moments when throwing in the towel made sense? Sucks, doesn’t it. Oh, and a dash of truth, some days I slip and mess up my system. When we meet, you’ll know why.
